Monochrome Monday
My daughter and I took a walk at Sholan Farms over the weekend. While walking we kept on hearing these snapping sounds. When we came up to the apple orchard we found out the source of the sounds. A farmer was pruning the apple trees. Pictured here is the neat piles he was creating.

Gazebo at Sholan Farms
Went to Sholan farms today. From their website I see that their property contains 160 acres of land. They have a trail system that goes into the surrounding Fallbrook area as well as the Monoosnoc Trail. I was hoping to spot some of the deer, coyotes, rabbits, bluebirds, or bobolinks the area is said to contain. About the only animals I came across was a robin and a couple of dogs someone was walking. In any event, I was able to capture some photos.
Apple Orchard

Was surprised to see that the leaves were still on these apple trees at Sholan Farms. This is rather late for central New England.
Sholan Farms

Took a ride up to Sholan Farms. They are now closed for the season. This is one of the last apple orchards left in Leominster. When the farm went on the market, the city of Leominster decided to buy the property and preserve the farm. Today the the Friends of Sholan Farms oversee the operation of the farm.
